Woke up to Penelope making her snack boxes for the day. According to her she needs two, one pantry snack box and one refrigerator snack box.


Pantry Snack Box- Cosmic brownie, root beer Fizzy drink tablet, cheese puffs.

Refrigerator Snack Box- Pepperoni, Cajun cheese curds, grapes and blueberries and a granola bar.

Hmmm... not exactly the snack box I would make her but at least I got to sleep in for a bit.

It's been awhile since I posted one of Penelope's snack boxes. I have been keeping busy working in the lunch room at school, volunteering in the classroom, running around to all Penelope's extracurricular activities and trying to make sure everyone gets fed, and the house stays clean. Here is a snack tray I made for Penelope over the weekend.

Crushed wheat sourdough bread, Oreo lemon cookies, berry medley, turkey roll ups, olives, smoked salmon and cheese cubes. Yum Yum

Here is a snack box I made for Penelope yesterday. She gobbled everything up after school and said it was the best snack box.


Parmesan cheese cubes, cheddar slices, Wheat Thins, salami, blackberries and blueberries, baby tomatoes and cucumbers.

We are almost done with a full week of Penelope in Kindergarten, she is really enjoying it. Wednesday was her first day of chapel and she said she talked about God and danced to beautiful music and it made her cry. I asked her if anyone saw her crying but she said she hid it. Tuesday was taco/burrito day at school and she asked if she could take a lunch instead.


I made her a turkey and cheese sandwich, the K is for Kindergarten of course! She also had chippy's, strawberries, blueberries, and fruit gummies. I froze her apple juice the night before and then left it on the counter in the morning while we got ready for school. It was nice and cool when she finally drank it at lunch and it also served as an ice pack to keep her lunch cold. Yesterday was hamburger day at school so she decided to eat lunch there. Unfortunately when I picked her up she informed me that she was disappointed that there was no cheese on her burger. Today they were serving Teriyaki chicken rice bowls for lunch so she wanted to eat at school. She brought her fortune cookie home and ate it up along with the snack box I prepared for her.


Crackers, garden tomato almonds (more on these later), strawberries, cheddar cheese slices, and pepperoni.

Here is another bento I forgot to post. It was actually the first one I made in our new home. Since we live in wine country I decided to make her a lunch with things that would typically be enjoyed with a glass of wine.


Top tier: A slice of Iberico and Manchego cheese, a couple of slices of cheddar, black olives, uncured nitrate free hot salami and regular salami, and crackers. The salamis are Vons' Open Nature brand and they are sooo good. I also love them because I can eat them without getting an itchy mouth!

Bottom tier: Green and red grapes, unsalted cashews and almonds

Don't worry the goblet contains kid friendly apple juice, no wine!

On another note Penelope started ballet class yesterday. I am really excited about this class because she is now old enough to learn ballet technique and positions. There is a lot of stretching involved in the class and boy did it look difficult. She really enjoyed it though and did very well.

I am also excited that I volunteered to work in the lunch room at Penelope's school for a couple of days a week. I am so interested to see what their lunch program looks like. I will fill you in on that later...

Look who started Kindergarten today! Whaaa, she is growing up so fast! I have been a nervous wreck the last couple of weeks leading up to today, but surprisingly I was at peace about it this morning. Then when I saw how excited she was standing in line with all her classmates and then walking into the classroom and finding her seat I was so happy for her. I know she is going to do great but what ever will I do with all my free time?!


Here is a snack box I made for Pen to enjoy when she is home from school. Blueberries, 2 marshmallow moons, Ranch flavored sunflower seed kernels, lemon biscuits, and dried pineapple rings.

She wanted to eat lunch at school today. On the menu was Chicken Strips, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Salad Bar, Frozen Fruit Bar, and a Beverage. August seasonal fruits and veggies to choose from in the salad bar include: Melons, Berries, Grapes, Kiwi, Pineapple, Spinach, Romaine, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Colored Peppers, Green Beans, and Carrots. Drink choices are 1% Milk, 1% Chocolate Milk, 100% Fruit Juice, or Bottled Water. I bet she was excited about the salad bar! One more hour till I get to pick her up!

Here is Penelope's snack box for the next few days. She tried feeding Timber another olive and he spit it out. He really does hate those things!


Oats and honey granola bar, blueberries & raspberries, Cuties, dates, smoked almonds, dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds and olives.

It's been awhile since I made Pen a snack box. I think it's because when we moved Chris made me I sold my Easy Lunchboxes that I just loved for making snack boxes. I am going to get me a new set but in the meantime I found a replacement.



Penelope was very excited when I told her that there was a snack box for her in the fridge if she got hungry. She said "I remember that, you haven't made one of those in a long time. Thank you mommy!"

Cheddar and Pepper Jack cheese cubes, salami, club crackers, sliced cucumber, Plumazins and a couple of whole prunes, grapes, olives.

Here is another one of Penelope's snack boxes. It's been awhile since I made one and I am getting tired of hearing "I'm hungry", "can I have some candy", and "what do you got to eat" so I need to be more consistent with these.

I've been slacking on making Penelope a snack box lately and for the last few days she has been asking for snacks in between meals and complaining about being hungry. She finally asked me if I was going to make her a snack box. Bad mommy! So here is Penelope's healthy snack box.

Grapes, mixed nuts & dried cranberries, pickles, carrot sticks and a cubed pear.

This weekend was the annual Stocking Stuffer Party at the Pratt Museum. They set up several tables with Christmas crafts for the little ones in the museum and you can visit the cabin next door and take photos with Santa.

Here is Penelope's snack box for the week. (Or however long it takes for my lil' piggy to eat it up.)
Grapes, cucumbers, jack and cheddar cheese, nectarines, peaches, plums and apple sauce in the small container.

I got this idea from my friend and one of the Girly Girls over at Girly Girl Giveaways and I loved it and decided to share it with you all. Giving Tracy all the credit of course! I don't know about your child but mine is constantly asking for a snack in between meals throughout the day. Why not make them a "snack box" that's always on hand whenever they feel the need to snack. Using any container that you have, I used 2 Easy Lunchbox containers to make two snack boxes, and fill them with healthy snacks they can munch on. You can fill them with any healthy goodies you have on hand. I filled Penelope's snack boxes with peaches, nectarines, oranges, grapes, carrots, cucumbers, cheese, olives, pickles, dry cereal, nuts, dried blueberries, and yogurt covered raisins. The possibilities are endless!


Now whenever your kiddo(s) get the urge they can help themselves. Just make sure whatever your container you use is child friendly.
