Big Horse Corn Maze and Harvest Festival Review

October 17, 2015

A couple of weeks ago I posted about the Big Horse Corn Maze and Harvest Festival that is held every year in October here in Temecula, California. Last weekend we decided to brave the heat and visit for the first time.

The forecast for this day was super hot. I think most people in Temecula got the memo and decided to stay indoors so there wasn't too many people visiting on this day.

Entry into the festival is free but there is a $5.00 parking charge. A portion of these funds are donated back to several military non-profit organizations as well as funds going directly to the specific Marine units that volunteer at the event to help with the Corn Maze and parking lot. They have several booths set up with fair food and drinks and games and activities for the kids to enjoy.

From pony rides to shooting corn out of cannons, which we did.

To rock climbing and gem mining, which we also did.

And of course the obligatory face painting and balloon animals, because it isn't a festival without these two things.

Now the real reason to visit Big Horse Corn Maze and Festival...

Their 12 acre, 7 ft. tall corn maze. We started our walk through the maze, water in tow and Penelope at the lead. At about 40 minutes in and our water bottles almost completely drained we decided to get some help from the "corn cops". It took much begging and pleading before they finally pointed us in the direction out. It took us a total of 50 minutes to go through the maze. Had it not been so hot I think we would have stuck it out and skipped the help. It was fun either way.

There is a separate charge for walking the maze.

Here is a price list of activities. When you decide to visit keep in mind that the corn maze opens up at 10 am with last person entering the Corn Maze at 4pm. The Festival ends at 5pm. On the weekends their are a lot more pay for play activities like pony rides, hay rides, rock wall climb, face painting and much more. There are also lots of fun family friendly activities as well like an animal sharing center with a horse, piglets, a calf and chickens. (as long as all of the animals are healthy and ok with the crowd they will be on display for the kids), corn boxes which are like sand boxes but with corn kernels,  sand excavators, hoopla hoop contest, pie eating contest, pumpkin bowling, pig races and other free activities.  The Pumpkin Patch is full of pumpkins you can purchase to take home and carve. Also being that this is a farm restrooms are porta potties and there are no plumbed facilities to use.

They have a convenient weather widget displayed on their website so you can be as comfortable and prepared as possible when visiting.  There is only a couple more weeks before Big Horse Corn Maze and Harvest Festival will be over till next year so be sure and pay it a visit. It's a fun place for the entire family.
