2010 Green Books Campaign- Nuggets Review

I was invited by Eco-Libris to join in the 2nd annual Green Books Campaign. In order to raise awareness on considering the environment when purchasing books Eco-Libris has pulled together 200 bloggers to review books printed on recycled or FSC-certified paper.

From Eco-Libris website: Choosing recycled and FSC certified paper helps protect the world’s forests, species and climate. Deforestation accounts for an estimated 20% of global carbon emissions, more than the emissions from the transportation, aviation and IT industries combined.

As one of the 200 bloggers chosen to participate in this campaign I was given a list of books to choose from in a variety of subjects. After searching through the list of "green' books from 56 publishers, I found one that not only was I eager to check out but would fit perfectly with my blog and the recent move my family made back to Alaska. Nuggets: A Big Ol' Pile of Cartoons from Alaska by Jamie Smith is a collection of his comic strips that have been appearing weekly in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner since 1986.
This book gives a humorous insight on Alaska living. If you know anyone that is living in Alaska or if you are just curious about what life is like up here then I would recommend getting this book. Unless you have visited or lived in Alaska you might not get the comedy in every strip but it will make you even more curious. So check out the book and then come visit this great state. You will see why Nuggets cartoon is so widely popular here. You can get your copy of Nuggets: A Big Ol' Pile of Cartoons from Alaska on Amazon and take one more step at going green.

Check out some more reviews on the Green Books Campaign page.

I haven't heard of these cartoons before. Sounds like something that would provide a good introduction to them.
